Wish Book Review

I've just read Wish written by Barbara O’Connor. This story is not real, it’s fiction and the story began in Colby, North Carolina and the main character is Charlie Reese. Heres the summary:

Wish by Barbara O'Connor

Charlie Reese is a girl who lives with a broken family. Her family does not care about her. Its because her mom and dad are always fighting and every time they fight, a swear word would come out of their mouths. Her dad always fights so much that people called him scrappy and in fact, he is now in jail because of his fondness of fighting. Despite this, she has been making the same wish since fourth grade. Since Charlie has an unstable family she was sent to live with her aunt Bertha and uncle Gus although she doesn't really know them. She hated the place and things and all and when she went to school everything seems to get even worse. Kids laugh at her, and Audrey Mitchell, a girl from class, shoved and kicked her. That is until she meets wishbone, a skinny brown and black stray dog who loves her so much and Howard a surprising up and down boy who became a true friend to Charlie. Soon Charlie gets in trouble and when she discovers her wish, it turned out that it is not what she needs after all. Soon she also finds her auntie and uncle caring and loving. But with the help of her loving aunt and uncle, a true friend and the dog of her life, she discovers what a true family is. In the story, I've learned what a true family is and just like Charlie with the help of her new family and friend, she learned what a family truly is. A family should be caring about each other and not fighting. Definitely no exchanging of swear words.
