A Christmas Carol Book Review

I just read A Christmas Carol and I learned a lot of things but first here is the story summarized by me.

A Christmas Carol

There was once a very unkind man named Scrooge. He is so mean that he didn't even celebrate Christmas. Until the day before Christmas when his old and dead partner Jacob Marley visits him. Marley tells Scrooge that at the next night he will be haunted by three ghosts. Scrooge hardly believes this but then it did happen. He first encountered a ghost that looked like a child or an old man. Then the spirit showed his past Christmas and the old fellows Scrooge knew. When the spirit vanished, Scrooge found a mysterious lock for a room with a big table filled with pies, pudding, and more Christmas food and the next ghost he was supposed to meet is also inside the room. The ghost had a green robe. He showed Scrooge the jolly people getting ready for Christmas. He also showed his employees with their families being happy at that moment. Sooner the spirit showed a ragged wolfish boy and girl before the spirit disappeared. Then he remembered what Marley said. Then the third ghost appeared from nowhere (it looked like a dementor from Harry Potter) it crept closer to Scrooge. Later the spirit showed the future that might happen to him. Next, the ghost showed a grave and to Scrooge's horror, his name was on the grave. So Scrooge promised the spirit that he will be kind and he will keep Christmas in his heart. Then the bell rang and the spirit was gone and Scrooge was back at his room. From that day on Scrooge became different than the man he was before.

A Christmas Carol  by Charles Dickens

I've learned some lessons like being kind or keeping Christmas in our heart. These lessons are important because if everyone was not kind then it will not be a peaceful world. And also Christmas is not about presents and all its about spending time with family and friends. If Charles Dickens never wrote this book then people won’t know the true meaning of Christmas. The best thing I learned from A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens is that we need to be compassionate to one another even if it's not Christmas. That is why I wrote this book review even if it's not Christmas yet.

  1. Nice reflection on the book, Saki! Hope a lot of people can read the book too and be compassionate with one another regardless of the time of the year.

  2. You're right Saki! A lot of people have to realize that it doesn't have to be Christmas to be nice to others. I'd love to read this book in the near future too. :)
