Remembering 9/11 | Never Forget

Today is September 11 so I decided to write about a book called I Survived, The Attacks of September 11, 2001.

The story begins with a boy named Lucas who loves football more than anything else. But one day he sustained a concussion and is rushed to the hospital. Back at home, Lucas's parents decided that he should quit football because it was dangerous. Lucas pleaded to his parents to put him back to play football but his parents don't want him to.

Lucas decided that he was going to talk to his uncle also known as his coach in football. So instead of going to school, Lucas took the train to the city and went to the fire station where his uncle works. But when he gets there and he was able to talk to his uncle, he learned that it was his uncle who told his parents to quit football. Lucas got angry but then suddenly they saw a plane flying so low and it was headed for the twin towers.

The plane they saw hit one of the twin towers. Everyone in the vicinity was so shocked and scared. Plus 50,000 people were working in the twin towers that day. Everywhere firefighters, police officers and paramedics came altogether to help even his uncle. Then suddenly it happened again. Another plane hit the other tower. Smoke and dust were everywhere. At last Lucas's father arrived just on time to get him to safety.

But the story doesn't end there, there's more and I'm not going to spoil it for you. You can read the rest of the story from I Survived, The Attacks of September 11, 2001.

I wrote this article to honor the people who sacrificed their lives just to save other people. And I also want to honor the people who survived that day and the author, Lauren Tarshis who wrote this great book. What I learned from the book is about the sacrifices and the victims on that tragic day. That 9/11 will always be remembered for the courage and the sacrifices of saving lives.
